Nightmares can come True (Monday Monday)

This morning, I had a nightmare about work, which ended up coming true. My friend David was describing his nightmare of a job, and Denton had his say:

“9th year and doing fine. It’s not that deep, find satisfaction in your work, that’s all in your attitude of gratitude. Be happy you have a job and do it to the best of your abilities; have a bad day? say to yourself that today was bad but tomorrow will be better. It is not your work’s job to make you happy, you find happiness in your work.”

for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)”

This Podcast is uncalled For

Concern grows for Tuesday storms, area placed in ‘enhanced’ risk,” meanwhile my friend Mike C and I met in downtown Overland Park and recorded an episode for his current project, “This Podcast is uncalled For.”

We talked geek culture, our history of improv (and formats like the Harold and Armando, and fellow players like D Denton Turley, Jack Shedd, and personalities like Jill Bernard), and ‘Star Trek,’ and later my father entreated, “We have coupons for Burger King if you want to go get some.”

“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness,
faith, love, and peace, (2 Timothy 2:22)
along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”

With a Little Help from My Friends

Turn right toward Springfield,” a year ago last Sunday, was only third epic road trip I have gone on with Denton (I don’t think I’ve talked to him this year).

Leno Bike 1,” an episode from ‘American Chopper’, clues me to Denton’s birthday, a week after Jay Leno’s first appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.’ Scott, elder statesman and a mutual friend of Josh and Travis, has a birthday Monday and is the same age as the SuperBowl. Luke was born near the last episode of ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.’ Josh and Travis have birthdays in late March and early April.

Bennigan and I finished ‘KILLING BITES,’ and caught up ‘The Rising of The Shield Hero (Rising of The Shield Hero Had No Outrage Controversies in Japan, Says Kadokawa Producer).’ Josh and I caught up ‘The Grand Tour (Jeremy Clarkson shares eye roll-worthy response to Will Young’s homophobia accusations).’

Let’s hear it for The Man

“Made it to St. Charles 66 hours 20 min,”
recounted Denton after finishing the Missouri River 340 on Friday as a Word of the Day from Dictionary.com – leonine – resembling or suggestive of a lion,
“I think I’ve broken or pulled or worn out every part of my body including my hair.”

“I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end. He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions. (Daniel 6:26-27)”

you’re the home of youth. You’re America’s truth.
You’re Denton, Denton U.S.A! Happy birthday!”

“that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith–that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:16-21)”

Turn right toward Springfield

This time was only the third epic road trip Denton and I have made. “In Search of a Used Postal Jeep,” we had gone to Atchison; today Adam was also along and we traveled to the Ozarks to Osagian Canoes, who know How It’s Made.

“Don’t you listen to the weather? We got a major storm here.” While the snow had been removed from all the forecast, Denton wisely wore a thick sweater.

He later created a 360-degree composite video using a 4K digital camera. Missouri Highway T was perilous, and Denton’s hands tightly gripped the steering wheel until we returned to a recently plowed dual-lane carriageway.

The weather had caused nearly every eatery, and we were finally desperate enough for the chewy, cheesy and crispy goodness of Casey’s pizza.

Mr. Saturday Night

While Denton and I have plans for a road trip tomorrow, “Hiatus,” an episode of N.C.I.S which aired 9 May 2006, just completed on Netflix and I was reminded yesterday how I have been neglecting “A Friend in Deed.” Coincidentally, David’s been craving pancakes recently, so 6 or 6:30 is going to be a good time to meet up for dinner before the show Saturday night since we have been entreated:

I know what you are thinking, with Groundhog’s Day being Friday your weekend is going to be totally front-loaded and there’s no way Saturday can be anything but a letdown. Oh, not so fast, because Saturday at 9:30PM I will be performing at ComedyCity and I can promise you that show will be way more fun than any rodent-based holiday. Yes, ANY rodent-based holiday.

There is No Replacement for Displacement

Calling an early night on Thursday from Friday morning with lube and filter service for the car (Live! with Kelly), taking a friend to work; a Word of the Day from Dictionary.com – ad absurdum – to the point of absurdity:

for anger lodges in the bosom of fools. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)”

I got my oil changed today, so the only thing I need to do now is to make sure I go to bed in an hour that’s reasonable on Saturday night.
“I think my truck can make it. We will have a good road trip”
All right, just know that I was prepared or trying to be prepared.

Americans are sleeping more, and that’s a good thing

Feelin’ Satisfied

How many times has a song by Boston been a title for a post?

This song was being played in the sandwich shop tonight after I finished eating. I have made tentative plans to drive to Lebanon, Missouri with Denton a week from Sunday.

Heartbroken,” said Denton about his feelings about the memorial service for his father, who passed away earlier this month. I have vacation time now so I called into work and spent some time with him today.

“Will 7 to 10 work?” asked Josh, who was very accommodating Sunday night, when we watched ‘Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma,’ ‘Stranger Things,’ and ‘NEW GAME!’ early so I could awake before nine this morning.
